You May Be Suffering From Tooth Sensitivity And Don’t Even Know It

You may be big on dental hygiene rinsing your mouth often, flossing every day and even avoiding foods that may be too sugary or acidic. But in spite of all this, you could still be suffering from tooth sensitivity.

SmyleXL dental clinic in Viman Nagar offers all types of dental treatments like root canal, teeth dental implants, cosmetic dentistry etc.

Surprised?

In a survey conducted in 2011 by  a global market research, over 40% of the respondents from all over India claimed to suffer from tooth sensitivity, and almost half of them were unaware of it. While most of the respondents blamed the consumption of cold drinks, chocolates, and sweets as the cause of their condition, experts claim that improper brushing technique is the primary cause of tooth sensitivity.

Brushing too vigorously or using a toothbrush with hard bristles can wear away the protective layers of your teeth and expose the inner layers that lead to your dental nerves. The easiest solution to this is to use a toothbrush with softer bristles and to be gentler while brushing.

Some of the other causes of tooth sensitivity pointed at the dental products we use. Whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes often contain alcohol and other chemicals that can increase sensitivity, especially if the dentine is already exposed.

Coming back to the survey, only 21% of the respondents knew that they could get lasting relief from tooth sensitivity. Most people seemed unaware of the relief that sensitivity toothpastes can provide, and only 11% of the respondents had used sensitivity toothpastes.

We tend visit the dentist only when we feel that something is wrong, however, regular preventive dental check-ups shouldn t be taken lightly. In the meantime, if you find yourself unable to enjoy a hot meal or ice cream without wincing, the best remedy would be to switch to sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne, India s #1 dentist recommended sensitivity toothpaste. Add to that a softer brush and a gentler brushing technique, and you would have taken the first steps to help you ease the twinges of tooth sensitivity.
